WHY Joe Gibbs & Joe Gibbs Racing? The answer is simple:
One of the finest individuals I've ever met!
To listen to, to watch, talk with, to get to know, .....
well, it's like going around the track in one of his NASCAR's at 220-225 MPH.
Joe Gibbs has proven himself in the two top sports in the US – NFL and NASCAR.
----As head coach, he led the Washington Redskins to three Super Bowl Championships during his first stint as Redskins coach from 1981-1992. Those were exciting years to be living in northern Virginia, and be a Redskins fan.
----Under Joe Gibbs’ ownership, JGR has won three series titles, the 1993 Daytona 500 with Dale Jarrett, the 2000 Brickyard 400 with Labonte, the 2005 Brickyard 400 with Stewart and more than 45 NEXTEL Cup races
----Joe Gibbs was named “Coach of the Year” in 1982, 1983 and 1991 and became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
----He has also written two books:
"Racing to Win: Establish Your Game Plan for Success";
"Joe Gibbs: Fourth and One".
For the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say, go to: JGR
It will be an exciting visit, you will be inspired .... again and again!
Outside of sports, in the community: I was there in 1985 to watch a 5,200-square-foot contemporary home, known as the "Builder's House", be constructed in 72 hours straight: from ground breaking, construction, finishing, landscaping, furniture moved in, fully completed. The brainchild of Ray Smith, of the Northern Virginia Home Builder's Association, the Builder's House in the North Point section of Reston was built by many contractors and finished at record speed. The event raised $1.2 million in raffle ticket sales that benefited multiple youth charities - among them was a home for delinquent teens headed by Redskins coach Joe Gibbs. It was exciting to witness, and be a part of the atmosphere. Yes, I've been fortunate to know and talk with two of America's finest in their respective fields, lives and to hear their motivational talks.
